Music of the Day:
Dizze Rascal

I just watched this video, (link via WoosterCollective) about graffiti in China. The most interesting thing to me about the video is that the artists aren't hounded. I had a preconcieved notion that it would be damn near impossible to bring something like graffiti to China. It's interesting that there is more freedom in China to pursue street art than there is in U.S. cities. That kinda completely blew my fucking mind away.

I think a large part of what makes graffiti so popular though, is that it's a sort of outlaw type of thing. The very illegality of it is what adds some zest. Unfortunately it deters people from making dull city surroundings more beautiful. It sucks when someone is using public space to practice and makes some big ugly piece of shit that everyone has to look at, but the true craftsmen/women can create things very stimulating to look at.

I'm still sort of shocked by the thought that China is more free. I've been fairly indoctrinated to believe that Communist China was essentially like N. Korea, and to find something like graffiti burgeoning in China is pretty sweet.

Oh, also.. I'm sticking to my guns and going to try to refrain from embedding video into this... there are plenty of multimedia sites that offer that shit, I don't really feel like being a link-depot.

I or Matt need to actually create a logo for TheGzus, I think that would be pretty tits.

In other news, Matt and I are still playing a lot of music. I kinda want to find some people to collaborate with in-or-around Southfield. Matt's co-worker was going to play with us, but he's been busy for the past month.. so I don't know how that's gonna go.

I don't know where my digital camera is, or I'd post a picture of the work being done outside of my house.
